Mudhead, or Koyemsi, originates from the Hopi Tribe. In the Hopi Kachina cult, dancers dress in costumes representing varous "supernaturals" that are called upon to help bring rain, increase the harvest, etc. One of these is Mudhead, the Clown, who appears in most ritual dances, singing and playing games with the crowd.
These small pottery dolls represent Mudhead.
