The bell represents wisdom and the divine feminine, while the dorje, or thunderbolt, represents potent and creative masculine energy. In Tibetan and some Hindu ceremonies and meditation, the bell is held in the feminine left hand, while the dorje is held in the palm of the masculine right hand. Together they create balance. We supply a wooden beater with the bell, and it can also be played in much the same way as a singing bowl, by tapping it lightly with the stick, then rubbing the stick around the outside rim of the bell. Also use the bell for space clearing by ringing it in each corner of the room to move stagnant energy.
