Alexandrite is almost impossible to source at the moment. Our alexandrite is from a new seam, and not gem grade, but still has a lovely energy.

Alexandrite is aligned with and opens the Heart Chakra, but also opens the Third Eye and Crown Chakras, creating a strong spiritual connection, and a softer connection with one's spirit guides. The narrower, pointed end of the crystal is quite directional, and used as a wand can open and balance the other Chakras. Alexandrite balances physically and emotionally, is generally healing, supporting the immune system, and specifically can calm inflammation and aid regeneration of tissue down to a cellular level. It can help raise underlying energy levels when overworked. It facilitates travel between dimensions. Used in meditation, it can create an inner expansion, and a feeling of being "at one with the Universe". The energy is quite masculine and goal-orientated, and encourages independence. Cheerful bright teal in colour. Amazonite encourages self-determination and self-confidence, and discourages self-destruction and the notion of being a victim. It is a filtering stone, and can protect against electromagnetic stress if placed between the person and the source of pollution. Physically, it can ease cramps and is also useful in childbirth.

Strictly speaking, amber is not a mineral, but an organic tree resin. Baltic amber is from the now extinct coniferous tree, Pina Succinifera, which existed in the Eocene Epoch of the Tertiary period, about 50 million years ago. There are a number of other deposits throughout the world, from other species of tree, and of varying ages. Amber was the first precious stone noted in human history, and has been used as a healing stone and protective amulet for at least 7000 years. It becomes electrically charged when rubbed vigorously with a cloth, causing it to attract small particles, and archeologists now believe this made it an object of magic for ancient man. It bestows good luck and happiness, grounds higher and mental energies, and acts as a powerful healer and cleanser, having the ability to absorb pain and negative energy. It is good for the filter organs, helps with joint problems and enhances healing of wounds. It encourages a sunny outlook with a gentle, flexible and pliant nature, and yet with strength and self-confidence. Yellow amblygonite is a tiny powerhouse of energy. Azurite is naturally occurring with malachite, but natural is seldom available as a tumbled or polished stone. We have mineral specimens of natural azurite-malachite. Bytownite shares general characteristics with other members of the feldspar group, such as labradorite. In addition, bytownite has a powerful vibration that seems to affect the area of the body that is nearest. For example, used near the Base Chakra it can aid grounding. It aligns and balances the Chakras, opens the Throat and Crown Chakras, and can be used to energise the Solar Plexus area and treat the kidneys, spleen and stomach. Chiastolite is an alternative name for twinned crystals of Andalucite. All varieties of Andalusite are highly protective, especially the opaque version known as chiastolite. The rarer, transparent gem-grade version has an energy that is warm, gentle and immediate, and not only protects, but is comforting and lifts the spirits as well. When used in connection with the Throat Chakra, it helps us to speak our truth. Heat-treated amethyst is often sold as citrine. Temperatures of 470° will turn it pale yellow, and 550-560° C will turn it brown. It is identifiable by a slightly red-orange caste to the colour, broken rather than straight sides, and white colour near the base of the crystal.

In the Middle Ages, garnet was known as carbuncle, which was reputed to "glow in the dark". A variety of quartz, so named because it originates from the Herkimer Mine in New York, and specimens are of a dazzling clarity, and so superficially resemble diamonds. There have been a few other deposits discovered recently, and the owners of the Herkimer mine are attempting to purchase these as well, in order to continue to associate the name with this particular type of crystal. The hardness is 7.5, slightly higher than other quartz, because it is formed under a higher pressure, and they are always double terminated. Use primarily with the Crown and Upper Crown Chakras, for clearing and bringing in Divine light, as an attunement stone, and in meditation and dreamwork.

Iolite is associated with the element water. It is balancing in general, and particularly balances male-female energy. As such, it can add harmony to relationships, as well as aiding self-acceptance. Quartz (silica) is the main component of glass, and can symbolise clarity. It is used in computer chips, and as such transmits knowledge. The crystals have no centre of symmetry, which creates a polarity (piezoelectricity); slices taken at appropriate thicknesses and orientation are used for controlling frequencies in radio components and watches.

Clear Quartz is arguably the most important crystal in crystal healing. Many crystal healers use quartz points as wands to transmit energy, generators to enhance energy, or control crystals, the healer's closest ally in some schools of healing, directing the healing session almost like a conductor with a baton.

This stone is very grounding and protective. It is an excellent pain killer, especially for back problems, as it also strengthens the spine. Much of the smoky quartz on the market is poor-grade clear quartz that has been irradiated. A combination of seven minerals: Amethyst, Coacoxenite, Goethite, Lepidocrocite, Clear Quartz, Rutile and Smoky Quartz. Super Seven forms massively, and does not display crystals. There is a similar multi-mineral available as crystals, known as Super Six, as it has no coacoxenite.

Small pieces will carry the vibration of all the minerals, even when these minerals are not present in the individual piece. However, completely clear examples can be very heady, and it is recommended that you make very sure you are grounded, or work in combination with a grounding crystal when using it. Super Seven is a "Melody" stone, and all information currently written on the subject originates from her. It assists both psychic and spiritual development, and opens and "lights up" all the Chakras and the Astral Body, making it very useful for strengthening the Light Body and aiding astral projection. It is used for Earth healing, and in healing on all levels. Super Seven is also useful for Shamanic work. In the 18th Century tourmaline was considered the "Stone of Wisdom". In Arabic traditions it is the stone of the sun, and as such would protect from nightmares and strengthen the heart.
